Japanese curry is a world apart from the Indian or Thai fare that we have been accustomed to; a dark, pork-flavored sauce covers a mound of sticky rice and a small side of vegetables. Topping that is choice of crispy-fried chicken, pork or shrimp ($ 5 – 9.50). There are also some choices of sides, such as pickled scallions, boiled eggs or shrimp ($ 1.50-$ 2.00).

On our stop there, we tried both the chicken and shrimp options. The crispiness and flavor of the first satisfied our taste buds, but the same cannot be said of the latter, which tasted like it had been left in the refrigerator a bit too long before hitting the frying pan.

The ambience is of a fast-food restaurant, with the annoying sound of Japanese TV blaring most of the time with taped reports of Yankee slugger Hideki Matsui (the name "Go Go" refers to the 55 on his jersey) and non-stop commercials of the sister store in Japan. There is no alcohol on the premises, so the only choices to wash your meal down are water, green tea and other soft drinks. If you are really hungry, try the grand slam ($12.50), which includes all menu options on one dish
